So I was taking Monkey to stay with his grandparents this weekend because I have to work and The Hubs was on call for an install for work (aka: working from home unless called to go in, lots of furious typing, occasional cursing, and multiple acronyms that I don't understand). I was almost to the end of our 1 1/2 hour drive when The Hubs calls and says the install is being canceled due to Hurricane Ike. Since we were there, my in laws offered to keep him for the night and The Hubs could come get him the next day, which was a lot nicer than showing up at their door, saying Hello and Goodbye and leaving again :).

Monkey's new favorite thing is a toothbrush, not only does it help sooth the gums with his two new teeth coming in, it also makes an excellent drumstick!
His future dentist will be so proud...

Monkey's Halloween costume arrived in the mail today and we had to try it on for size. Monkey was in no mood for picture taking today, hopefully trick or treating will go better...

Me and some of my friends have been having fun with a new website called www.yearbookyourself.com. You can photoshop your face onto yearbook pictures from 1950 all the way up through 2000. So I had to try mine first, then I had to do The Hubs' pictures (so I could see what he looks like with hair!), and last but not least was Monkey:

I got a phone call from my dad today that my grandmother had a heart attack and after a surgery to place two stints in the main artery of her heart, is in the ICU. As of now, she is doing okay and I am so glad that she has 4 of her kids and my Grandpa there to keep her company. I am saying a prayer for you, Grandma! I am still in awe whenever I go to this particular Target store. It's brand new, the parking lot is very well lit and visable from a main road and the mall across the street. However, a little over a year ago, Kelsey Smith, a beautiful high school girl who had come here to buy a present for her boyfriend was abducted from here in broad daylight and later murdered. I saw the parking lot survellience video and she did not go without a fight. Every time I am here, I look around and see people and think "How did someone not see her, how did someone not hear her? How could something so terrible happen right here?" And I send a little prayer out to her family and friends...

On one of the floors I work on we, we see kiddos with broken bones and external fixators and in traction and other fun devices. A while back we started working on a collection of dinosaurs that had wound up on our nurse's station counter. So far we have C-Collar dino, Halo traction dino (which met the approval of the Ortho docs), and multiple fracture dino:

I am still wearing my Ortho boot and as a result, I leave lovely little black marks everywhere I go at work. Not only do I get laughed at that they can here my peg leg coming down the hall, but you can look all around and see where I have been...good job security I guess, it shows that I am not just sitting down all shift :).
