So I had finished up with an education update at work and had to stop by the store when I stopped behind this nice car at a stop light.
Inside I could see the back of the driver, with a cute little blond bob haircut. Suddenly she starts dancing, bouncing. and making big hand motions. I am thinking her favorite song is on the radio or she just got some great news. I am also thinking she is about 20 year old at most. I pull in behind her at the store and out pops this woman is definitely older than my mom, maybe in her 60's. I'll tell you, that is the kind of older, mature woman I want to be!

I pass a Krispy Kreme on my ay to work and every so often I will stop in a get a few dozen to share at work (plus I love the look I get when I order three dozen doughnuts and a small diet coke!). Now they have Krispy Kreme minis and as far as food goes, they are so stinkin' cute! My friend Laurissa told me "I was headed to the break room to get a doughnut and was telling myself "I am only going to have half of one, only half. But when I saw them I though they were so so cute, I'll have two!" Thus the rationale of women and food :).

I got a very sweet goft from my friend Abby at work tonight, a little thank you after a busy week last week. It was such a nice surprise, my favorite candy and a candle.
I was a little confused why she gave me such a cute gift back inside of a Target bag, until she explained that he daughter tried to help her wrap it :)...

Grandma and Grandpa B came up to visit today and after a nap, Monkey was ready to help Grandpa B and The Hubs install new garage lights and play. He also got his first taste of Chipotle (likes the beans and rice, does not like guac!).
"Here Grandpa, let me fix that for ya..."
The we headed off to Costco, where we figured if Monkey is walking now, we may as well put him to good use:

Lazy day of cleaning and working on getting our room put back together:
The Hubs is still a little sore from all the painting so Monkey offers him a nice little back massage:

The Hubs was getting off work early today to get a jump start on painting our bedroom, so we entertained ourselves by seeing how many accessories Monkey could wear:
Playing the popcorn tin bongos:
And painting messages on the wall for the Hubs to find
The room came out great! I was a little worries because the paint in the can looked white until it was actually on the wall. Between rearranging and the new, lighter paint color, it is a brand new, peaceful, relaxing room! It's my little beach cottage in Oz :).

Lunch/playdate day with the Livingstons! I thank my lucky stars for a friend like Jenny, she is hands down one of the most amusing, insiteful, and patient people I have ever met. After a yummy lunch at Red Robin (in honor of Jenny's birthday) with the kiddos and Jenny's mom, we headed over to the indoor playground to burn off some energy with Davis and chat with our new friend Josie:

Thank goodness for the indoor playground in winter, Monkey slep so long I had to wake him up so he'd sleep tonight :)!

(Cue angels singing...)
Oh thank heavens for the creative grocery cart people that came up with this kid friendly invention! I had to do the weeks shopping with Monkey after being at daycare all day and The Hubs was working late. The last time I attempted this, it ended with Auntie Jess (thank goodness she was here) taking Monkey to the car and driving around while I finished up. This time I was prepared with a sippy cup, and a snack but this was the best thing ever :).

A big day in history...however for me, it came in the middle of my three day work run (and working nights makes working 3 12 hours shifts in a row quite interesting). So I came home, slept, got up, got Monkey from Daycare, made dinner, and was back off to work. I got about 30 second to attempt to read Obama's inaugural speech before Monkey turned off the computer (we love buttons and switched that turn things off and on) and needed some love. Hopefully I can catch some news or read up on things later, as of right now all I know is we have a new president :).

When Monkey was a newborn, my mother in law was holding him, his tiny little pink fingers wrapped around her pinkie. She pondered out loud one of the one of the most beautiful and thought provoking things I'd heard:
"What will these hands do?"
I am already amazed at what these little hands have learned to do already and can only imagine what they will do in the future :).

Ever since Monkey got his barn and animals from Uncle Bub and Aunt Tara, we've been singing "Old McDonald Had a Farm" and Monkey joins in by singing "E-I-E-I"... ...but no "O." His teacher at daycare even tried combining his favorite "E-I-E-I" with his other favorite "Uh-oh" (this is usually being said at things are deliberately being launched from high chairs, car seats, strollers, etc), but Monkey still hasn't got it down quite yet. I didn't want to leave for work tonight because Monkey was in such a great mood:
Thanks to The Hubs for this fun little picture :).

Started off the day with a most excellent family snuggle, followed by cleaning and getting our room ready for it's make over. We headed out to get paint and had lunch at my new favorite restaurant, which was very yummy. Monkey got a balloon and was just sitting in the back seat, giggling at it. One minute I looked back and saw this:
The next minute, I looked back and saw this:Needless to say he took a very good nap today :). This is our first room painting undertaking with Monkey around so the Hubs decided to do all the priming and we will put the color up next weekend when we have some Monkey wranglers available. In the mean time we rearranged the room and I can't get over how much of a difference it has made, it feels like a brand new room!
One hard working, worn out, chuckling deliriously for no apparent reason Hubs :).

When The Hubs and I were trying to decide what color to pain our bedroom the first time (yes, we've only been here 3 years and already we are repainting the bedroom), we had a great debate. He said "Pick a paint color and then find a comforter." I went with the "It's much easier to pick out a paint color once you've found a comforter we both like." We ended up going his route and although he will never admit, one night even he said he didn't like the color we'd painted our room :). But the good news is that now we have a quilt for our bed that we both like:
And tomorrow this paint color will be gone!

Busy day complete with art projects:
Mood swings:

Super messy naked dinner (with a diaper on of course):
and last but not least, our first bubble mullet!
Overall, a great day :).

Busy but fun day. Had a doctors appointment today that went well even though I had to get stuck 6 times for labs...my favorite nurse there said she was afraid to send me out into the waiting room covered in cotton balls and tape :). Got done with just enough time to head downtown for my Basic Life Support certification. My coworkers and I successfully resesitated our plastic people and managed to not shock ourselves with the AED so we are certified again for another two years. On the way home I took a 5 minute vacation, sitting in my car, letting the carwash do all the work since it was so cold and listening to Augustana's new album...
ahhh, life is good :)

Tonight was supposed to be a baby shower for a friend/coworker of mine but we ended up having to improvise a little since her baby decided to come a few weeks early :). We picked up Mexican food and just sat around holding babies (another friend brought her 2 month old baby girl too) and talking, it was a great time. I had to wait until my friend had her baby (since they weren't going to find out what it was) before I could order her my new favorite go to baby gift:
I found these blankets on ebay when looking for one for Monkey and ended up getting him one for his birthday. I love them because they are bigger than your average tag blanket (Monkey sleeps covered up with his every night) but small enough that you can take them in the car or into the store. The lady who makes them (her shop is called Rubby Bubbys) always throws in some extras for me, like these hand made cards.

The Hubs is back in glasses, kind of a bummer for him since he had Lasic surgery about 5 years ago. But deep down, every time I see him in his glasses it reminds me of the first time I saw him (through the peep hole of my front door before our first date) and how I loved his his little glasses :). Still makes my heart go pitter-pat :)!

Tired mommy/wife/photoblogger has to work today, have decided to outsource today's picture taking duties to Monkey:
A little abstract but not too shabby :)!

Every year I find something great in the Target stocking stuffers, something we usually end up playing well after Christmas. This year was the the bouncy ball snow globe...
I'm 29 years old and can honestly say that most things with glitter still make me go "ooooohhhh!"

In an attempt to get a self taken family pic, this was the bet we could do:
and I love it :)!
We spent the day de-Christmasing, cleaning, rearranging, organizing, and entertaining Monkey, who would dissolve in to giggles whenever we'd sing "Ooh Eee Ohhh Ahh Ahh, Bing Bang Walla Walla Bing Bang." Once we got the Christmas stuff off the mantle, I brough out my Willow Tree figurines from the bedroom, I think I am going to like them better on the mantle. Although they look nothing like us, they are my little reminder of how our family has grown:

After using it mainly as a weapon, today Monkey finally got the hang of using a fork! He liked it so much that he became quite upset when he had nothing else to pick up with his fork...I had to cut him off for fear his belly would explode!

01/07/2009I am going to g ahead and file this one under "Things I wouldn't do for a million dollars..."

Monkey has become a big fan of Elmo, mainly because Sesame Street is the only show he really watches right now. If you show him an Elmo and ask him who it is, he says "La La La, La La La" the beginning of the Elmo's World Theme song. This is his first pair of slippers :).

01/05/2009
A very silly (and teething) Monkey decided he was up for the day at 5 a.m. today. Granted I love to see him wake up in such a good mood, but usually more around 7! Luckily he was up so early he got two naps in, which meant I got two naps before heading off to work tonight. Oh yes, and he loves his hat:

01/04/2009
Blissfully lazy day spent catching up on laundry, cleaning house, and being in our PJ's way to late...oh yes, and teaching Monkey how to use the camera :). Monkey now wanders from room to room in search of Papa (he calls the Hubs both Papa and Dada). If the Hubs is in the bathroom, he'll lay down on the floor and try to stick his hand under the door.

We had our Christmas with The Hubs' family today and needless to say once the kiddos were out of their high chairs, the presents didn't stand a chance! Theis picture really captures it, presents half unwrapped, Blue Eyes is oepning Monkey's gift for him, it was a free for all and so much fun to watch. My niece Goose's reactions were the most fun to watch. Blue Eyes and Monkey got push mowers from their grandparents and they took turns mowing the living room and carrying them around :).
My mother in law has several toys from when The Hubs and his brother were little and this one is one I remember being fascinated by when I was little:
Our third and final Christmas for this season :).

01/01/2009!
Happy New Year!

Time to start the new year fresh with no mistakes in it yet :). I have several resolutions on top of the very popular "lose weight." Overall I think I want to be a better wife, mother, and friend by being a better listener, a more positive person, and being better about communicating. For myself, I want to take care of myself physically and emotionally, take care of our family by budgeting better and being more organized. I have a feeling I will keep referring to and adding to this list all year. Good luck with your resolutions!
